2011-2012 Focus

Every year Northwood Church establishes one or more specific areas of focus. It’s an extra shot-in-the-arm for a goal or topic that we feel deserves some extra emphasis in our Sunday services, small groups, events, ministry teams, and everywhere else that Northwood is active.

The 2011-2012 Objective is:

Pray more.

The Bible Verse is:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6 – 7 (NLT)

Strategies to accomplish objective:

1. Preach two sermon series on prayer.

2. Increase number of Northwood Intercessors to 125 (currently at 75).

3. Establish monthly prayer focus items and pray for them during services and in small groups.

4. Schedule three corporate “Praise and Prayer” gatherings at Northwood House.

5. Schedule 24-hour prayer vigil around Pentecost Sunday. Theme to be determined by Prayer MinistryTeam.

6. Create “Top Ten Resources to grow your prayer life,” i.e. books, articles, etc.

7. Schedule a Prayer Retreat – research both one day and overnight retreat options.

8. Teach on prayer in Disciple U.

9. Integrate prayer into Northwood Kid’s program – teaching and events.

10. Integrate prayer into NSL program – teaching and events.
